Welcome Spring!

While most people are complaining that the first day of spring didn't bring warmer weather (it generally doesn't) I am excited nonetheless.  Just the idea of spring officially being here has me so excited. While I don't think I can pick a favorite season, I do enjoy being able to be outside comfortably, rather than freezing my ass off.

A couple of weeks ago I did a post on spring fashion and I thought today, in honor of the first day of spring, that it might be a nice time to revisit that and tell you all what my spring wishlist is!

  1. I don't think I've ever owned a pair of cute wedges before and I would really like to buy a pair these season!  The ones above are from Target!  So cheap, so cute.
  2. As much as I love a pretty spring dress, sometimes a skirt works just as best.  While Spring is generally about color I think a nice neutral from Old Navy would work just as well.
  3. I have pretty sensitive skin, but I love a good face mask.  I am looking to add this one from Bath and Body Works to the collection.
  4. I have owned this perfume from the Body Shop before and everyone loves it!  It's so light and beautiful, I can't wait to buy it again.
  5. Lastly, a good trench coat.  We're back to Target for that!

On going caffeine free

My favorite mug :)

About two months ago I began experiencing anxiety really bad again.  I wasn't sleeping or eating and in general was feeling pretty unhealthy.  I knew that all of that was revving up the anxiety so I began the process of cleansing my body so that I would feel better.

After talking to my boyfriend and a few close friends I made the decision to go caffeine free because after close observation I realized it might be at the core of all my issues.

Right before I quit caffeine I realized I was suffering from awful headaches and was always shaky.  I was the type of person to drink coffee/tea/caffeinated beverages multiple times a day and I was coming to a point where my body actually needed me to stop.  Caffeine can cause cause those headaches, the jitters, in fact it can cause lack of sleep and appetite as well if you have it too much and have a reaction.  Everything I was feeling was in an unhealthy circle caused by too much caffeine consumption.  So I quit...

Sometimes it really sucks.  Like on days when I'm exhausted.  I think to myself "one thing with caffeine won't hurt me."  But it would.  My body simply cannot handle it all that well.  It also sucks on days when I go to get a coffee or tea and the place doesn't offer decaf.  It actually puts me in an awful mood.  Just ask Tim.  I think he's scared of me when I get frustrated like that.

Overall, I am really glad I made this decision for myself.  I feel so much better after having stopped consuming it and I think it is something a lot of people should consider.  It's absolutely not for everyone, but it's absolutely for me.

5 spring trends I am excited for

It's freezing in New Jersey today as it is pretty much anywhere.  Just to give some perspective to those of you who might be reading from somewhere warm and sunny, last night I was walking my usual 6 blocks back toward Penn Station from work.  I stopped 4 blocks from the train to pick myself up a grande latte.  The 4 block walk is only about 5 minutes and in those five minute it took to walk to Penn Station...I drank my coffee...the whole freaking coffee!

Regardless, in light of this cold weather I figured I would look forward to spring and talk about the trends I am most looking forward to!

1. Colorful blazers
Left: Old Navy, $34.94.  Right: Old Navy, $39.94

How cute are these for spring?!  You could dress them up for work or dress them down for a weekend.  Blazers are very in for the spring, especially in bright colors.  I can't wait to buy a couple of these for myself.

2. Statement jewelry
Left to right: JCrew, $165, $128, $138, $150

Alright, I know these are a bit expensive but my God they are to DIE FOR.  I especially love the first two and have been secretly saving up for at least one of them but I am so torn.  Statement jewelry has been in for some time but I think we are going to see a lot of it this spring.  You can absolutely find cheaper pieces but I saw this babies in the store window over the weekend and haven't been able to stop thinking about them since.

3.  Black and white

No picture needed for this one: yup.  The staple in all of our closets, the things we wear on rainy days or days we are feeling crappy is now considered on trend.  Black and white was all over the runway's for spring and I am very curious to see if there will be an influx in people wearing it or if the people that always wear black and white will just suddenly become trendy...what a funny thought!

4.  Flats and low heels

$228, Kate Spade

Flats are going to be HUGE for spring this year.  In fact, Kate Spade has been highlighting flats all week on their website to talk up this trend.  I am excited about this one because I have always love flats.  I am a sucker for being comfortable yet fashionable so I am looking forward to this.  Also, how freaking cute are those shoes?

5.  Sneaker heels

Forever 21, $37.80

Guys, I hate to say I like these...but I really like these.  This trend started to catch on last fall and I think it is going to be one that sticks.  I think you will see cute floral prints like these or other loud colors on this statement shoe for spring.  Yikes, I can't believe these finally won me over...
